They will be hard to read and cannot be sent as a single multi-page PDF file. Scan the documents instead with your Handy (cell phone), here's how:
- iOS/iPadOS - How to scan documents with the Notes app (built-in function on Apple devices). The iOS Files app is even better. You can also install the excellent Ukrainian app Scanner Pro by Readdle, which is what I use for all of my scanning.
- Android: How to scan documents to PDF on Android (Google Drive app download required)
- How to directly annotate/edit a PDF file with an iPhone or an iPad.
- Useful websites to convert properly scanned image files into multi-page PDF files, for those of you using software lacking full industry-compliant output capabilities, such as Google Docs:
- PNG to PDF
- JPG to PDF
- Combine PDF (to combine multiple PDF or image files into a single PDF document)
Learn how to type all 30 letters of the German alphabet, including Ä, Ö, Ü, and ß
- Type special German letters of the alphabet on your device/computer.
- Recent versions of MacOS have a ridiculously easy way to type German letters and general alphabetic accents, and it is useful for many languages. (Hint: just hold down the letter you want to "umlaut" or accent.)
- Discover how to install and use the U.S. International keyboard to fluidly type European letters. This is the best long term solution, especially if you do not have a Mac.
- If all else fails, use this virtual keyboard. You can click on buttons to produce the desired German characters and then cut-and-paste them directly into other documents. Other languages are also available.
- Umrechnung von Einheiten (measurement & currency conversion site)
- Click here for an extensive list of popular Jungen- und Mädchennamen (boys' and girls' names).
Important Documents for Students
- Why Learn German?
- General Group Presentation Rubric for role-playing presentations in German 1 and 2
Many files on & through this site are in PDF format and may require a compatible reader on a Windows-based PC. Macs, iOS devices, and most Linux machines do not need to install anything, as PDF handling is standard in these advanced operating systems.
